Rick Suarez and Sid Sharma have started up a new Wine Importer
business that currently specializes in wines from Chile & Argentina.
Area wine market and needed some valuable feedback from consumers
about these new wines. That's where we came in! Rick and Sid
stopped in with us for a visit and to discuss and share their wines and
the stories behind them. In turn, we drew up some feedback forms that
would provide Rick and Sid with the information they needed.
We sampled five different wines, four from Chile and one from
Argentina. We started with the four Chile wines which included a
brilliant Chardonnay that showed plenty of citrus and acidity, a
Carmeniere, a Merlot and finished up with a spicy Cabernet Sauvignon.
The Chardonnay and the Cabernet Sauvignon really stoled the show
and when the prices were revealed for the four wines, people really got
excited. The finale consisted of a Malbec from Argentina that finished
us off on a solid note. All of these wines, except the Chardonnay, were
ten dollars or under. Great Stuff!
We served all sorts of food, which is very important when showing off
new wines. After all, you mostly share wine with dinner, right? We had
quite an array of foods like, smoked salmon, pizza, chocolate, fruits and
even tamales.
Rick and Sid quizzed the group on some wine trivia and two lucky
patrons got to take home some Reserve Chardonnays from Chile.
They also gave yours truly a Carmeniere and Merlot wine that I can't
wait to dive into! None of the wines that we tasted are available for
sale in the U.S. yet and that is one of the things that made this event so
special.
