We started 2006 off with a bang! It was our Best Wine Label event at turnout, there were several interesting wines to choose from. I had no idea there were so many kooky and crazy wine labels out there and I go wine shopping all of the time!
The contest would have two winner's, one for the best label as voted on by all of the guests and one for the best tasting wine, also voted on by the guests. I would have to say that the competition for the best label was much more intense than the best tasting wine. There were so many goofy, hilarious and cool wine labels to choose from, but in the end, it was an old favorite with good ole' fashion sex appeal that captured the hearts of the voter's, which were curiously made up of mostly men! It was Pat's Norma Jean "Young Merlot" with a sexy picture of a young Marylin Monroe on it.
The contest for the best tasting was a beating of cosmic proportions with Alma's Mitolo "Jester" shiraz clobbering the competition. I personally celebrated her prize winning wine by drinking about half of it myself. Hey, it pays to do your research ahead of time! Yummy!
There were lots of snacks and goodies to eat and I even made some crab stuffed won tons. I think everyone liked them because there were not any left...I choose to believe that was a good sign! For once there was plenty of wine left at the end of the night. Mostly white wine, you red wine snobs! Thank you again Brad for being such a gracious host!
