Happy Hour at Cork
Well, only a dork such as myself would try to plan
an event over a holiday weekend in Dallas.  How
long have I been doing this again?  Despite the
low turnout for this event, one thing is for sure,
Cork is a really hip and cool place to taste and
shop for wines.

There were six stations with eight different wines
each and each station had a different theme.
One station was full of Ramey's Chardonnays
and Cabernets and Cab Blends.  Another one was
dedicated to the under appreciated Rose wine
category.  This station in particular aroused my
curiosity and I sampled four different ones from
here.  The highlight of this station was a Rose
wine from Oriel.  A full-flavored Rose that would
be perfect for any barbecue occasion.

There were plenty of other interesting wines to
be had, but for me personally, the Ramey 2004
Larkmead Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon stoled
the show.  What incredible aromas emanated
from the glass!  This wine was built for the long
haul!

The main wine shop area is filled with delicious
wines from all over the world and a great deal of
them were offered at very modest prices.  In the
back room is where one finds all of the collectible
gems.  Names like Two Hands "Ares", Ken
Wright's Pinots, Silver Oak, Plumpjack and so on
and so on.

Cork also has places for you to lounge and
hangout with friends while you sip on your glass
of wine and tables in the back room for special
occasions or for wine and food dinning, complete
with a flat screen TV.

Cork gave everyone from the Dallas Secret Wine
Society the first $5.00 on their Cork Tasting
Debit Cards free!  They had even prepared a
gourmet cheese plate for us to nibble on.  In the
end, one could come to the reasonable conclusion
that Cork is a fun and hip place to shop and taste
wines.  For more information about Cork, visit
