Leasingham Winemaker's Dinner at Paparazzi's
Paparazzi Chef and Owner, Gerry Mansour, and Australia's Leasingham
Winemaker, Kerri Thompson treated us to a very special and
unforgettable dining experience.  Kerri led us on a journey through her
wine portfolio made exclusively from the great wine producing region in
Australia known as the Clare Valley, located in South Australia.

With wines of this quality, you really better have some awesome food to
stand up to the wines and Gerry really took the bull by the horns with his
gourmet selection.  He prepared a four course meal of sorts that
amounted to more of a sampling of some of his greatest work.  I would
have to say it was the best meal he has ever prepared for one of these
events.

Kerri started us off with a comparison of two of her Riesling wines from
different vintages.  The first I believe was the Leasingham Magnus
Riesling and the second being the Leasingham Bin 7 Riesling.  Gerry had
some bread with a type of Bruscetta spread that I always look forward to
and moved quickly into a Mandarin Orange Spinach Salad that was
masterfully chosen to complement the citrus flavors in Kerri's Riesling
wines.

Next we moved into her first red wine of the evening which was an
excellent value wine that retails for $11.99 called Leasingham Magnus
and it is a blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon which was paired with
a fantastic bowl of Pasta with Sun-dried Tomato Sweet Chunk Plum
Marinara.  These two items sure hit the spot!

Next on the list was a wine that needed no introduction.  It was the award
winning, Wine Spectator 92 point rated Leasingham Bin 61 Shiraz and it
lived up to its reputation.  With a wine like that you need a strong food
presentation and Gerry once again delivered with a Chicken Sorrentino
that was covered with his very own home-made Mozzarella cheese.

The finale put the whole evening over the top!  Leasingham's Classic
Clare Cabernet, retailing at $50.00 a bottle, was a definite show-stopper,
which was followed up by Gerry's Manzo Bordelais, an in house aged
beef steak toped with a red-wine demi-glace that was to die for!  I'll be
back soon for seconds!
