Merlot Food Pairing
Here is a list of food presented by Harvey Steiman from the Wine
Spectator that makes an ideal match with Merlot and a few suggestions
of my own:

#     Rich grilled fish like tuna, salmon or mackerel, Italian seafood
dishes prepared in a rich marinara sauce.

#     Roast, steak, beef in a red wine or mushroom sauce, stew, short ribs,
brisket, meatloaf, hamburgers, Beef Stroganoff and Beef Bourguignon.

#     Grilled marinated chicken, chicken with medium sauces like red wine
or teriyaki, chicken with hearty sauces like spicy Italian, mushroom,
Cornish hen, duck with light to hearty sauces, turkey with light to hearty
sauces.

#     Rack or leg of lamb, lamb chops, roast pork, pork chops or
tenderloin, veal with heartier vegetable and/or bean sauces or mushroom
and/or wine sauces.

#     Pasta with meat sauces or ragus, bolognese, herbed tomato or
carbonara sauce and meat lasagna.

#     Parmigiano, Romano and other hard cheeses as well as cheddar and
other savory, firm cheeses.

#     Soups that contain hearty vegetable stews, chicken stock with
meats, hearty meat-based stews or meat stock with vegetables.

#     And for dessert, anything with chocolate.  Trust me on this!  Merlot
and Chocolate is a winner!
