| We are pleased to announce that MyWineAssistant.com is now open for our initial beta testing! This beta test is open only to members of the Dallas Secret Wine Society. To access the system, go to www.mywineassistant.com and register for a new account. If you have thought about tracking your wine inventory on the web, this is a perfect opportunity to do so. We’ve created a robust community wine inventory system that allows you to track your own wine collection and see how wines fared with other users. Community wine ratings, notes, and feedback can be used to help you find wines you’ll love. Our service is being offered completely free of charge to users. Revenues to maintain the service will only come from affiliate programs. In a nutshell, if you use a link on our site to make a purchase, we will get a small portion of that pie. Here are some initial features: · Add and store wine to a “virtual cellar.” · Track the physical location of your wines in racks. · Run reports showing your “Top 50”, community “Top 50”, and a snazzy looking Wine List. · Shared data automatically populates critical information such as cellar life based on community data. You can overwrite community wine data if desired. · Track wine “bottle shock” or “travel shock” – a waiting period after you receive a shipped wine before it should be consumed. We’re also planning many more features that can be developed as our database grows. Here are some features that are currently on the books: · Wine recommendations based on previous personal ratings that will use contingency analysis to compare your tastes with other users. · A user forum to communicate with other users and wine lovers. · Groups that will allow users who belong to local groups (i.e., Dallas Secret Wine Society) to communicate and share wine information with other members of the group. · Periodic wine articles to help enhance your collecting and drinking experience. What is beta testing? Beta testing is the final phase before a system officially goes live. We need a few people to start using the system to help us identify any issues or required enhancements. Since we are still in development, your feedback will be used to help determine the direction we take with the service. If you have ever tried another wine inventory system and found things you didn’t like, this is your chance to help create a service that has all the features you desire. What should I look for? We are asking people to report back any issues or usability problems they find while using the system such as: · Missing infrastructure such as regions and varietals. · Confusing screens or poorly documented pages. · Bugs, errors, or bad links. Additionally, we are looking for any system enhancements that would make the system better such as: · New features or functionality. · Additional fields, windows, or forms to gather additional information. · Additional reports, queries, or views that would help you enjoy your wine experience. Known Issues · Producer search does not account for special (international) characters such as é. · Producer search will only search keywords in entered order. Provide all feedback via email to dmcquade@mywineassistant.com. Thank you, DJ McQuade |
