We kicked off our First Ever Supper Club with a bang at Todd & Megan's house. They had Gloria Ferrar Brut Blanc de Blanc poured for all the guests as they arrived. The sparkling wine really whetted our appetites and it was a good thing too, because there was a ton of food.
The first course was a pairing of the earthy side of mother nature as we were treated to Sheree's veal stuffed mushrooms & a lovely Bordeaux wine. Next up was a spicy roasted tomato basil soup and a sun-dried tomato tossed salad with a broken tomato vinaigrette. I paired these two items with a couple of Valpolicella wines. Then Megan wowed us with her fantastic, army sized lasagna to be paired with I believe at the time, a Primitivo from Italy and a California Cab. Not to be outdone by anyone, Ian & Jennifer had hastily prepared Cannolis (that I cannot for the life me spell) that were expertly crafted and consumed with a light Italian Prosecco.
After dinner, we started into the evenings entertainment. A game of "Imagine If", where each of us had to guess what someone else at the table might do. It didn't take long for hilarity to break out. The best part of the game was that we actually got to know each other better. We ended the evening on the back patio with some Port & Cigars that we all know Shawn is famous for.
Our first dinner was a smashing success and I believe we all had a great time. Except when I had a small outbreak of PMS!
