Sipping fantastic wines while perusing incredible art. Does life get any better than this? I submit that it cannot! The Martin Lawrence Gallery is opening up their stunning art collections, featuring artist Kerry Hallam, to us as a backdrop and setting for a fantastic wine tasting. These wines are the creation of a winemaker who worked for the Mondavi/Frescobaldi joint venture in Tuscany, Italy. His winery, L'Uvagia di Giacomo, specializes in Italian varietals grown in the fertile soils of California. Here is some more info on the wines/winemaker:
The word “Uvaggio” has as its root in the word “Uva” which is Italian for “grape” and “Uvaggio” is a blend of grapes in Italy just as Cuvee is a blend of grapes in France, so “L’Uvaggio di Giacomo” literally translates as “the blend of James”, or as I teasingly refer to it when tasting his wines with him, “Jim’s Blend”. Winemaker Jim Moore fell in love with Italian wines while heading up Mondavi's Italian Winemaking venture. Working with the Frescobaldi family, Jim walked the vineyards of Tuscany and Northern Italy and become immersed in regional varieties and winemaking techniques.
He started producing his own label with the notorious 1997 vintage and continues to produce some of California’s finest versions of these wonderful varietals. He was recently named one of the Ten Winemakers to Watch by the San Francisco Chronicle, who decided he made some of the best examples of Italian wines to be found in California.

$50 & Up Burgundy Tasting Date: Saturday, June 5th Time: 7:00pm Location: TBD Cost: A $50 or more bottle of Red or White Burgundy and an appetizer Max # of Guests: 10 to 12 people RSVP: To R.S.V.P. Click Here!
Well this shouldn't be hard because let's face, Burgundy wines are expensive anyway, right? I think this is a category of wine that many of you shy away from because it is very confusing and intimidating to choose a good one. That to me makes this a perfect choice for our next $50 and Up category. I want to expose to many of you why this to me is the greatest of all wine regions and unfortunately at times, the most frustrating. Some of my most memorable bottles of wine were from Burgundy, red and white. (Pinot Noir & Chardonnay) These are very food friendly wines so finding an appetizer to bring should be easy. I will throw in a little Burgundy 101 education on top of the tasting. The wine can be either red or white. For those of you that think you don't like Chardonnay, but have never had one from Burgundy, get ready to be surprised!
I may need a host for this event so if you're interested in hosting, drop me an email at shane@dallassecretwine. com
Field Trip to a Texas Winery Date: TBD (A Saturday) Time: TBD by the Winery Location: TBD (maybe Crossroads in Frisco) Cost: TBD Max # of Guests: TBD by the Winery

2nd Food & Wine Pairing Dinner - Fruit of the Sea Date: TBD Time: 6:00pm Location: My House in Plano Cost: $50.00
If you don’t care for seafood, don’t bother reading the rest of the details for this wine & food pairing dinner. This dinner is all about the fruit and bounty that comes from the big ocean blue! Seafood is my favorite and cooking it is so much fun. I have picked out a few of my favorite recipes to pair with some great wines. Here is the line-up for dinner:
Le Convole (Clams steamed in a white wine sauce) paired with a Pinot Grigio
Seared Tuna Salad w/Hot Asian Mustard Dressing paired with a Sauvignon Blanc & a Pinot Noir
Herb Crusted Salmon w/Asparagus Beurre Blanc paired with a Chardonnay & a Pinot Noir
White Chocolate Hazelnut Tartlets paired with a Tawny Port.
During the dinner, I will explain the wine choices and give alternate choice suggestions as well as answer any questions you might have about the food and the wine. I will also have copies of the recipes available for everyone. And again, the cost is $50.00 a person limited to the first six people to RSVP.
